What Fosamin® 3 g Granules for Oral Solution is and what it is used for?
The active ingredient of Fosamin is Fosfomycin Trometamol , a phosphonic acid derivative, broad spectrum, bactericidal antibiotic for oral administration.
It is indicated only for the treatment of acute cystitis (uncomplicated urinary tract infection) in women due to susceptible strains of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis.

What is the Dose?
The recommended dosage for women 18 years of age and older for acute cystitis is one sachet of Fosamin with or without food. This medicine should not be used in children.

Warnings and Precautions
Dextrim may cause drowsiness. If affected, do not drive motor vehicle or operate machinery. Avoid alcoholic drink while on this medication.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy category: B

This drug should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefit outweighs the risk.A decision should be made to discontinue breastfeeding or to not administer the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

Precautions and Warnings:
Do not take this medicine and tell your doctor if:
The patients with known hypersensitivity to this drug or any of its excipient and patients with severe renal insufficiency and patients undergoing haemodialysis.

How supplied and storage condition of Fosamin® 3 g Granules for Oral Solution?
Box containing 1 sachet of granules for oral solution. Each sachet contains Fosfomycin Trometamol BP equivalent to 3 g Fosfomycin. The sachet must be kept out of the reach and sight of children. Protect from light. Store below 30°C.
